Integrated Therapies for Equine
My approach when working with horses is to find the place of connection, from where we can co-create relief from discomfort and improved suppleness of both mind and body. The connection begins within myself, cultivating awareness centred in heart coherence and informed intuition, opening the door to your horse’s curiosity and trust in my offerings. I offer a variety of therapies including Masterson Method, Cranio-Sacral Therapy and Innate Botanical Selections. I can work with your horse in your preferred modality or in a blended format which I find often the most beneficial. The synergy of touch, passive movement and offering of essential oils can be a trigger for transformative healing, enabling release and reframing of the different ways dysfunction becomes embedded.
Masterson Method is a unique method of equine bodywork that focuses on the key areas of strain, relieving tension in core muscles and key junctions of the body that affect the horse’s comfort and movement. The horse’s responses to the touch guides the bodywork enabling the horse to actively participate and enable profound shifts in movement and posture through regulation and re-education of the nervous system. The benefits of working within the horse’s emotional and physical comfort are apparent in the horse’s improved suppleness of movement, relaxed attitude and injury recovery. Masterson Method supports your horse’s long-term health providing excellent maintenance care and as an adjunct to support other manual therapies.

IBS sessions involve offering essential oils, nutrient powders and botanicals according to zoopharmacognosy principles. Herbs may already be a part of your horse’s health maintenance but when offered as self-selection they also restore your horse’s sense of freedom and confidence. The freedom to make choices and direct their own healing has a huge impact on their physical and emotional health, aiding trauma release and big shifts in their immediate and long-term health. Supporting your horse with seasonal sessions supports them through each season’s physiological effect and better able to modulate the homeostatic balance. Horses love the sessions and owners enjoy them too – we enter their world and witness their knowing of their needs and the happiness they feel when their innate intelligence is acknowledged.
Debono Moves is method of intuitive movement education developed by Mary Debono, for improving flexibility, coordination, and overall movement efficiency in horses and dogs. Evolved from Mary's 30 years as a Feldenkrais practitioner, it focuses on subtle, mindful movements and touch to engage the nervous system to improve body awareness and movement patterns. Drawing the horse’s brain’s attention to novel ways of moving and relieving muscular effort in areas of chronic tension creates a sensory blueprint for easy and fluid movement. The approach is to relieve and remind, rather than be corrective, fostering quietening of the nervous system and emotional wellbeing. Horse’s need to move, it is instinctual to their sense of safety and an important means of communication and expression. Debono Moves nurtures trust and receptivity as it provides not only comfort but the freedom they experience enhances your horse’s confidence, their interactions with other horses and their collaborations with you. This method is beneficial for maintaining long-term health, assisting training and as rehabilitation especially for repeated injuries and support in between other bodywork modalities.

“Laura arrives with an immediate sense of depth, she instils the space with her presence and combines a wide range of skills and knowledge to her attendance. I love how she blends her depth of awareness with information; she brings a sense of accuracy to each session as well. Being able to hold perspective from each of the modalities she has studied as well as her own experience with her horses is a great gift Laura brings in as well.
Olympia, has been having Amnanda treatments with Laura. The first time I observed a treatment I was in awe, the work is unlike any I have seen before. Olympia is a 26 year old ex-polo pony who is greatly benefiting from her sessions. I would highly recommend Laura as a practitioner and teacher by nature, she will continue to treat my horses for as long as possible, I hope!”
